Scalian appoints Clément Charruel as Chief AI Officer

This appointment marks a new milestone in Scalian’s strategy to embed artificial intelligence at the core of its expertise, particularly in complex environments and critical systems.

Scalian announces the appointment of Clément Charruel, 43, as the Group’s Chief AI Officer. In his new role, he will be responsible for defining and implementing Scalian’s artificial intelligence strategy, embedding AI at the heart of its clients’ critical systems engineering processes, particularly in the aerospace, space, defence and energy sectors.

His appointment reflects the Group’s ambition to accelerate the development and integration of AI by building on both its expertise in systems engineering, critical software, operational performance and digital solutions, and its in-depth understanding of its clients’ businesses and industry-specific challenges.

A graduate of École Polytechnique and IFP School, Clément Charruel has built his career at the intersection of engineering, strategy and technology. He began his career at Renault, where he spent nearly seven years in engineering and software project management roles related to powertrain systems, before joining Bain & Company in 2013 as a strategy consultant.

In 2016, he joined Altran, initially as Group Strategy Manager and later as Chief of Staff to the Chairman & CEO. Following Altran’s integration into Capgemini, he continued his career at Capgemini Engineering, where he held several senior leadership positions: Chief Marketing & Portfolio Officer, Head of Automotive for the Asia-Pacific region, and subsequently Managing Director for Southeast Asia and South Korea.

This international experience has enabled him to lead strategic, business development, innovation and operational initiatives, while supporting the growth of technology and engineering activities across Europe and Asia.

In his new role, Clément Charruel will notably be responsible for:

  • defining and leading the Group’s AI strategy;
  • accelerating the integration of AI across Scalian’s offerings, areas of expertise and business activities;
  • developing high-value AI use cases for the Group’s clients, particularly in critical environments;
  • supporting the AI-driven transformation of Scalian’s practices and operations.

William Rozé, CEO of Scalian:

“Artificial intelligence is profoundly transforming the engineering industry and opening up new opportunities for critical programmes and operations. Clément Charruel’s appointment will enable us to accelerate this momentum and take the next step in the implementation of our AI strategy. His experience at the intersection of engineering, strategy and technology will be a major asset in making AI a tangible driver of transformation and performance for our clients.”

Clément Charruel, Chief AI Officer of Scalian:

“The challenge is no longer simply to experiment with artificial intelligence, but to successfully scale it and integrate it into environments where performance, reliability and risk management requirements are particularly stringent. I am delighted to join Scalian to build this ambition alongside the Group’s teams and develop AI applications that create tangible value for our clients while upholding the principles of frugality and technological sovereignty.”
