MDA Canada SCALIAN

Space X launch tests, the Perseverance rover exploring Mars, Thomas Pesquet commanding the ISS… Away from our everyday life marked by the pandemic, the world is looking to the heavens and the focus is very much on space! Our agency in Canada is involved in this growing focus on space conquest and has added MDA, a new client in the aerospace sector to its portfolio. The team has also taken on a new consultant, consolidating the Scalian galaxy!

Our new Canadian client MDA is an acknowledged international partner for space missions and a pioneer in robotics, satellite systems and geospatial intelligence.

At the beginning of 2021, MDA chose Scalian as its new partner to provide support on the SARnext-C mission. This is the largest in-house development project ever carried out by MDA. The project uses state-of-the-art C-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) technology to ensure operational continuity for its commercial, government and institutional clients. The project’s preliminary design review for the platform and payload was recently finalised.

These are the aspects for which MDA called on Scalian’s expertise to support various activities, such as the assignment, compliance and verification of requirements, as well as the development of internal Interface Control Documents (ICD). This step will allow the SARnext project to move into a critical design phase.

On 8 February, Eliecer Hernandez (from Vancouver) joined the Scalian teams in Montreal. He provides the group with his expert knowledge of electronics related to payloads, particularly for satellites and ground stations.
